Synopsis

Set in a foggy and unsettled London with a Jack the Ripper type serial killer on the loose, this was Alfred Hitchcock's first major commercial and critical success. Based on a story by Marie Belloc Lowndes, the film is a masterpiece of atmospheric thriller filmmaking. It contains many of Hitchcock's subsequent trademark themes, and also features his first recognisable film cameo.

The film will be accompanied live by the band Minima. Formed in 2006, Minima perform in cinemas and art centres, as well as music and film festivals, playing original live soundtracks to silent films. Minima's music is a 21st-Century interpretation of the images of silent film.
