Paris, Texas

Running time: 139 mins

Synopsis

Wim Wenders’s unconventional road movie became one of the 1980's most iconic films.
Travis (Harry Dean Stanton) wanders out of Mexico and into Texas. He seems to have largely lost his memory, but he is driven by his wish to find his family: his young wife Jane (Nastassja Kinski), and seven-year-old son. His brother Walt (Dean Stockwell) and his wife are dismayed to learn that Travis wants to go in search of Jane with his son. All they know is that she probably lives in Houston…

In addition to the performances by Harry Dean Stanton and Nastassja Kinski, Paris, Texas has become a cult film on account of the unique soundtrack by Ry Cooder.

Showing as part of Cinema Rediscovered on Tour, a selection of films from the 2024 programme of Cinema Rediscovered, the Festival dedicated to the rediscovery and revival of great films.
